..make birthdays and holidays as special for my son as they were for me. As we sit between his real first birthday, his birthday party (fake first birthday), and Easter, I am thinking back to the excitement I had on Sunday morning coming down the steps to a basket of chocolate and toys…and of course the instant dread of knowing it also meant going to church was just around the corner, so the bounty delivered by Peter Cottontail would have to wait.

Toys are for Kids?

As our son’s first birthday approaches, I went out in search of a present. Why? I have no idea. He has more toys than he knows what to do with — and typically doesn’t even play with them, opting for a plastic container filled with kid-safe items from the kitchen. Most of the toys are hand-me-downs from various relatives and friends — so, needless to say, we have a lot of toys.
