The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall today for the Britax Chaperone Infant car seats
The issue, pulled directly from the release: The harness chest clip can break and pose a laceration hazard. Due to its small size it also poses a choking hazard.

After reading this article by James Rainey in the LA Times, I thought I would take the chance to say again: any and all reviews on this site are done without payment and the products have been purchased by our family (or entered the house as a hand me down).
Mr. Rainey hits on a form of advertising/marketing I have long despised: pitching products/shows on local news segments as though they are actual news — or as though they are from non-biased reviewers. If the person reviewing the product is getting paid directly or indirectly by the company that produced the product, More >

Not cool, I know. We took the easy way out. Rather than fly someplace exhilarating and fun for the whole family (me, Wifey and the meatball), we took the easy way out and decided to pick a place in driving distance.
So we set out on our 14 hour drive to Nashville to visit family, followed by a cross-Tennessee drive to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains. Since I am not a travel review site, I will leave the tourist reviews out — but I can say that I have always loved Nashville and the Smoky Mountains were amazing.
Overall, it More >

UPDATE: Lot numbers can be found here at the Abbott site (pdf) (9/24/2010)
From the Abbot Press Release: Abbott Park, Illinois (NYSE: ABT) — Abbott is initiating a proactive, voluntary recall of certain Similac-brand, powder infant formulas in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and some countries in the Caribbean.

I want to make sure I am the best dad I can be for my son, but I have come to realize that simply being here goes a long way. While I want to do far more, I realize there are children out there that deal with far less.
Before I was a dad, I had a “suck it up” mentality — I could be empathetic thinking I knew what it meant to suffer, but never sympathetic. Crappy family or none at all — that’s no reason for your current actions. I didn’t have a clue and I still don’t. More >

If you are a dad — or soon to be a dad, then you have most likely heard the horror stories of television for children. Anything Disney produces is like crack. Once they get a taste, they want more and more until you can not only recite full episodes by memory but you can also animate an entire episode yourself with a pencil, crayon and a few sheets of paper.
But there is a diamond in this rough. Enter They Might Be Giants. I have liked these guys since I was a kid. I grew up listening to them and More >

When I was in college, I written a poem for one of my classes (I forget which — probably a writing 101 class) — but it was read and graded by a senior that was in the major. Since I was reading a lot of books about World War II and the Holocaust, I chose that topic for the poem. I couldn’t (and still can’t) get the images out of my mind so I wanted to get it down on paper.
The senior feedback: It wasn’t my story to tell. At the time, I thought it was ridiculous. Otherwise, stories More >
