McNeil Product Recall
May 2nd
Per their own press release, found here: McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is voluntarily recalling all lots that have not yet expired of certain over-the-counter (OTC) Children’s and Infants’ liquid products manufactured in the United States and distributed in the United States, Canada, Dominican Republic, Dubai (UAE), Fiji, Guam, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, and Kuwait.
I have provided the list here, but please make sure to consult McNeil’s press release directly. Unlike drop side cribs, medicine does not make my list of Bad Things — More >
Graco Drop Side Crib Recall
Apr 29th
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued another drop side crib recall, this time for a wide variety of models sold under the Graco brand name, but made by LaJobi. You can see all the models here.
As I posted, drop side cribs are on my Bad Things list for this reason. Drop side cribs are recalled at a fairly regular rate, which makes me wonder why companies continue to produce them (although these started selling back in 2007). If you are a new parent reading this — steer clear of drop side cribs unless it is an absolute necessity. More >
Graco High Chair Recall
Mar 18th
I don’t know if I would want to be in the baby product business. To an extent, I am sure it is lucrative, but you really need to think of everything.
Graco is recalling high chairs — you can find the full list and reason here.
24 injuries out of 1.2 million products doesn’t seem like a lot — but I know if it was my son that was injured, I would feel differently. None of the injuries are major (even if it was my kid), but I think the recall and fix kit is a responsible approach.

Stroller Recall
Jan 21st
Two days — two recalls. The recent stroller recall from the Consumer Product Safety Commission can be found here. Hinge issues seem to be coming up more and more with strollers. Graco is doing the recall now, but I get the feeling that eventually all strollers will be recalled once an incident is reported for each brand and model.
This doesn’t make the list of bad things yet, but if the hinge issues continue, it might end up with drop side cribs.
I wonder how many of the products we are currently using will be recalled at a later date?

Drop Side Cribs
Jan 20th
Drop side cribs definitely make my list of Bad Things. The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission has posted another crib recall (click here for recall notice from USCPSC)- and it is not surprising that drop side cribs are involved. Please note that this recall involves both drop side AND non-drop side cribs, but as you can read, the issue is mainly the drop side versions.
We do not own a drop side crib, so I can’t say from personal experience that they are dangerous. I can say that everything we read when making a crib decision warned of their dangers, which is More >
