IKEA Mammut Three Drawer Chest
Feb 25th
Not much to review on this thing — the IKEA Mammut Three Drawer Chest has three drawers and works — but I did want to show a picture of how it looks in a room. The curtains in the background are from IKEA as well — but we had bought them years before for a different room. They just happened to match everything else.
Basically, in all of our searching we didn’t find anything similar to this set. I know it isn’t solid wood, much less wood, but the pieces definitely brighten his room. I really wanted to get the wardrobe, but More >
About Me Continued…
Feb 24th
The About Me section will be updated every so often as I change — which could be never or every so often. Anyway, the reason I am updating it now is to clarify one thing: I do not receive payments for any of these reviews. I simply found that when I was on the fence about a product, a review could push me one way or the other, so I want to pass on the favor.
Diaper Champ v. Diaper Dekor
Feb 23rd
For those that want the simple answer: both of these worked just fine — so if you are buying both or comparing one of these against another brand, you will be happy (most likely) with either one. It is however, the details that can matter here.
To put this in perspective — our son is 10 months old (who has been in daycare since 6 months old), which can make a difference in the type of poop. The Diaper Champ allows you to drop in the diaper to a small receptacle in the top and rotate the handle from one end to More >
Tip #6
Feb 21st
This is a warning, but could be considered a tip. If you find yourself cleaning up after a Code Brown (definition being a poop that has overflowed the diaper — thanks to the neighbors for the term — although I am sure a lot of parents use it) — know this: If part of the cleaning process involves soaking the pants in a sink — once the affected area hits warm water you will realize that you might as well have gone to a sauna powered by burning human feces. I have no solution other than to warn you in More >
The Daddy Blogger v. The Sippy Cup
Feb 19th
Dear Sippy Cup Makers, I am writing to you to ask one thing: Please make it easier to put on the tops so that my son can grab the handles and use the cup properly without having to first take a yoga class. Simply put — your handles do not align with the straws, making the cup virtually impossible to use without tightening to the point of excess or leaving so loose that I might as well dump 6 oz. of water on my son and call it a day.
Thanks Playtex/Baby Einstein for your cup. It is by far More >
IKEA Mammut Crib
Feb 15th
As I mentioned earlier, we looked at a lot of safety reviews and recommendations before we made any purchases. It was a tedious process, but one we felt worth it in the name of safety. A trip to IKEA derailed the whole process on what was probably one of the most important purchases we needed to make that truly needed to be safe.
We went to IKEA in search of another crib that made the recommended list on ConsumerReports.org. In walking around we came across the IKEA Mammut Crib. At the time, we didn’t know if we were having a More >
Ammonia, Part Three
Feb 12th
This has been a learning experience. I do want to say that we are still thankful for a healthy baby. A bout of pneumonia is nothing compared to some of the other illnesses out there — and I will never try to compare or think that we have a burdened plight.
As I mentioned early, I don’t get overly concerned by illnesses and I don’t scare easily. In fact, I was wondering if the concerned parent instinct in me was completely missing. I wondered if I was going to be that dad that says “toughen up” when my son breaks More >
Ammonia, Part Two
Feb 7th
So, with the pneumonia diagnosis, the Dr. changed our son’s antibiotics and gave us a nebulizer prescription. From that point on, we would need to give him the nebulizer every three hours until the next morning when he would have another appointment to check his lungs. If things weren’t better, he would need to go to the hospital.
Having another appointment 24 hours after this one sent my recently heightened daddy radar into overdrive. When the pediatrician is visibly concerned — that’s when I worry.
24 long hours of nebulizers and broken sleep had us bleary eyed, but we could see More >
Ammonia, Part One
Feb 4th
Our son is 10 months old, and has been relatively healthy, for which we are very thankful. I am not relating this story as medical advice or as any type of direction — but I have found that information passed on from others has helped me tremendously, so I thought I would pass on a bit of my own.
It started as a night of broken sleep on Friday and a fever by Saturday. It had the classic signs of an ear infection — wouldn’t sleep unless on one of us, irritable, sporadic vomiting, lethargy and feverish (all symptoms mild and More >
